Do we need a wish list? Do we have to crave for new things every time we go to a shop or go online?

Every time when I got on YouTube there are some videos that show people rambling about products that they cannot live without or cannot even live without trying them. I was spending quite a long time to adjusting the phenomenon that is an everyday experience in the life of anyone who lives in today’s consumer society. But do we really have to live like that? This is our choice or are we tricked by excellent marketing strategies? I think whatever the situation is, we do have a choice however the temptation of the marketing ideas is so effective that you seem to forget even about our main principles for a minute and we make impulsive shopping decisions.

How we can protect ourselves from the trick?

By making conscious decisions we can prevent our choices to be altered by our highly developed, consuming based society. Here are some rules I have introduced into my life:

1. Find you signature scent/foundation/eye-liner/eye-shadow etc. and stick with them

2. Have a diet, keep yourself to that

3. Whenever you go grocery shopping, take your list with you and don’t do impulsive shopping (don’t go shopping when you are hungry 🙂

4. Keep a capsule wardrobe filled with signature pieces of yours, don’t be scared to spend a bit more on items that you would love to wear instead of buying 10 unnecessary items that you would never wear.

5. Don’t forget to have a saving account to spare some money for a rainy day
